Responsibilities
- Listen to audio recordings of medical dictations and transcribe them into text documents with high accuracy.
- Proofread and edit transcripts for grammar, punctuation, and formatting to ensure compliance with medical standards.
- Ensure all medical terminology is used correctly according to AMA style guides.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of all patient health information (PHI) in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to clarify ambiguous dictation when necessary.
- Submit completed transcripts within agreed-upon deadlines to ensure timely patient billing.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Medical Transcriptionist or equivalent in a healthcare setting.
- High school diploma or GED required; post-secondary education in medical transcription is preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and medical transcription software (e.g., Express Scribe, Dragon NaturallySpeaking).
- Ability to type at least 45-60 WPM with 99% accuracy.
- Strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
- Self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
