Responsibilities
- Accurately transcribe medical dictation from doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals into final medical reports.
- Proofread and edit transcripts for grammar, punctuation, and medical accuracy before submission.
- Ensure strict adherence to confidentiality and HIPAA compliance standards.
- Utilize specialized transcription software to manage files and deadlines efficiently.
- Format reports according to specific client and departmental guidelines.
- Communicate with healthcare providers regarding unclear dictation or formatting issues.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; post-secondary training in medical transcription is preferred.
- Comprehensive knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and pharmacology.
- Minimum typing speed of 65 words per minute with high accuracy.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and medical transcription software (e.g., Dragon NaturallySpeaking, MTPE tools).
- Previous experience in a healthcare or transcription setting is a plus.
- Strong time management and organizational skills.
