Responsibilities
- Convert recorded medical dictation into written text using speech recognition software and manual transcription.
- Proofread and edit transcribed documents for accuracy, grammar, and punctuation before final submission.
- Ensure strict adherence to HIPAA regulations and patient confidentiality standards at all times.
- Review and edit doctor's notes, discharge summaries, and other medical records with high attention to detail.
- Utilize Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems and specialized transcription software (e.g., DQS) efficiently.
- Communicate with healthcare providers regarding unclear dictation or formatting requirements.
- Meet daily and weekly production quotas while maintaining quality assurance scores.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of professional medical transcription experience.
- Proficiency in medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and pharmacology.
- Fast and accurate typing speed (minimum 65 wpm).
- Experience with speech recognition technology (e.g., Dragon NaturallySpeaking) and transcription software.
- Strong command of the English language, including grammar and spelling.
- Reliable high-speed internet connection and a dedicated home office space.
- Certification (CMT or RHIT) is preferred but not required.
