Responsibilities
- Convert audio recordings of physician dictation into accurate written medical reports, including history and physicals, operative notes, and discharge summaries.
- Proofread and edit transcripts for grammar, punctuation, syntax, and medical accuracy to ensure final quality.
- Maintain strict patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA compliance standards at all times.
- Utilize Electronic Health Record (EHR) software and transcription tools (e.g., Dragon NaturallySpeaking) efficiently.
- Research and resolve ambiguous medical terms or unclear dictation with healthcare providers when necessary.
- Manage transcription workload within established turnaround timeframes to support clinical operations.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; Associate’s degree in Medical Transcription, Health Information Technology, or related field preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of professional medical transcription experience.
- Comprehensive knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and pharmacology.
- Typing speed of at least 65 WPM with a high degree of accuracy (95%+).
- Strong command of the English language, including spelling and grammar.
- Reliable high-speed internet connection and a dedicated, quiet home workspace.
