Responsibilities
- Transcribe dictated medical reports from audio recordings into clear, accurate text using various speech recognition software and standard transcription equipment.
- Proofread and edit transcribed documents for grammar, punctuation, and medical terminology accuracy before submission.
- Ensure all transcriptions are completed within strict turnaround timeframes and volume requirements.
- Maintain strict patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations and company privacy policies at all times.
- Utilize Electronic Medical Records (EMR) and Health Information Management systems to input data accurately.
- Communicate with healthcare providers regarding unclear dictation or formatting requirements when necessary.
- Participate in ongoing quality assurance reviews and training sessions to improve skills and workflow efficiency.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; Associate degree in Medical Transcription or related field preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of professional experience in medical transcription, preferably in a remote setting.
- Proficient in medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and pharmacology.
- Typing speed of 65+ words per minute with high accuracy.
- Experience with speech recognition software (e.g., Dragon NaturallySpeaking) and EMR systems (e.g., Epic, Cerner, AthenaHealth).
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Reliable high-speed internet connection and a dedicated home workspace.
