Responsibilities
- Listen to dictated medical recordings by physicians and other healthcare professionals and transcribe them into medical reports, correspondence, and administrative documents.
- Recognize, interpret, and analyze medical abbreviations, acronyms, and symbols used in patient records.
- Proofread and edit transcripts for grammar, punctuation, syntax, and spelling errors to ensure high-quality output.
- Adhere to strict HIPAA privacy standards and confidentiality agreements.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and pharmacology.
- Utilize specialized transcription software and keyboard shortcuts efficiently to meet production quotas.
- Communicate effectively with healthcare providers regarding unclear dictations when necessary.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; Associate’s degree or completion of a Medical Transcription program is preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of professional experience in medical transcription.
- Exceptional typing speed (70+ WPM) with a high degree of accuracy (98%+).
- In-depth knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and pharmacology.
- Strong command of the English language, grammar, and syntax.
- Reliable high-speed internet connection and a dedicated, distraction-free workspace.
- Ability to work independently and meet strict daily deadlines.
