Responsibilities
- Analyze complex environmental datasets to identify coastal pollution trends and policy impacts
- Develop interactive Tableau dashboards for city stakeholders and regulatory bodies
- Design SQL data pipelines to integrate municipal, NOAA, and proprietary datasets
- Lead cross-functional workshops to translate findings into actionable recommendations
- Validate data integrity using Python (Pandas/NumPy) and automated testing protocols
- Present quarterly findings to Long Beach City Council and environmental agencies
- Mentor junior analysts on statistical modeling best practices
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Statistics, Environmental Science, or related field (Master's preferred)
- 5+ years of professional data analysis experience with environmental/public sector datasets
- Expert proficiency in SQL, Python (Pandas/NumPy), and Tableau/Power BI
- Proven experience with geospatial data analysis (GIS/QGIS) and time-series forecasting
- Strong understanding of statistical methods (regression, hypothesis testing, A/B testing)
- Portfolio demonstrating impactful data visualizations and policy-influencing analyses
- Excellent communication skills with ability to translate technical insights for non-technical audiences
