Responsibilities
- Develop and execute the 2026 innovation strategy, identifying paradigm-shifting technologies and market opportunities
- Lead cross-functional R&D projects spanning AI ethics, biotech convergence, and climate tech
- Establish strategic partnerships with MIT, Stanford, and global innovation hubs
- Present quarterly innovation roadmaps to the board and executive leadership
- Manage $5M+ annual R&D budget with ROI-driven allocation frameworks
- Mentor junior futurists and cultivate an experimental, fail-fast culture
- Author white papers on emerging tech trends for industry publications
Qualifications
- PhD in Futures Studies, Systems Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 8+ years in strategic innovation leadership at Fortune 500 or unicorn startups
- Published thought leadership in technology forecasting (e.g., MIT Tech Review, Nature Futures)
- Deep expertise in exponential technologies: quantum, AGI, synthetic biology
- Proven track record of commercializing R&D innovations
- Fluency in scenario planning methodologies and horizon scanning techniques
- Strong network with DARPA, NSF, and global innovation ecosystems
