Responsibilities
- Develop and execute 5-year technology roadmaps aligned with 2026 industry predictions
- Identify and evaluate emerging technologies (quantum computing, biotech, AR/VR) for commercial viability
- Lead cross-functional teams of engineers, designers, and data scientists in prototype development
- Establish strategic partnerships with academic institutions and R&D labs
- Present technology forecasts and recommendations to executive leadership and board members
- Manage an annual R&D budget of $15M+ with rigorous ROI analysis
- Author thought leadership publications on future technology trends
Qualifications
- 15+ years in technology strategy with 5+ in emerging tech forecasting
- Advanced degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
- Proven track record leading large-scale R&D initiatives ($10M+ budgets)
- Deep expertise in at least two emerging technology domains (AI/ML, quantum, blockchain, etc.)
- Experience with scenario planning and technology impact assessment
- Exceptional communication skills with ability to influence C-suite stakeholders
- Published research or patents in future technology fields
- Fluency in strategic frameworks like Porter's Five Forces and SWOT analysis
