Responsibilities
- Listen to physician dictation and transcribe reports into accurate medical text using industry-standard software.
- Proofread and edit all transcriptions to ensure strict adherence to grammar, punctuation, and medical terminology accuracy.
- Maintain strict confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations and company privacy policies.
- Utilize speech recognition tools and specific transcription hardware to maximize productivity.
- Meet daily and weekly quality assurance and production quotas.
- Research and resolve unclear dictation with supervisors to ensure complete patient records.
- Participate in regular training updates regarding new medical procedures and software releases.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required; Associate degree or Certificate in Medical Transcription is preferred.
- Comprehensive knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and pharmacology.
- Exceptional typing speed with high accuracy (minimum 65 wpm preferred).
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and specialized transcription platforms (e.g., Emdat, Dictaphone).
- Reliable, high-speed internet connection and a dedicated, distraction-free workspace.
- Previous experience in acute care or specialty transcription is highly desirable.
