Responsibilities
- Review and transcribe dictated medical reports from physicians and other healthcare professionals accurately and in a timely manner.
- Edit and proofread transcripts to ensure they meet the highest standards of grammar, punctuation, and medical terminology usage.
- Utilize speech recognition software and electronic health record (EHR) systems to streamline the transcription process.
- Resolve discrepancies in medical reports and clarify ambiguous instructions with healthcare providers.
- Maintain strict patient confidentiality and data security protocols at all times.
- Participate in ongoing training regarding new medical guidelines, software updates, and industry best practices.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; Associate degree or certification in Medical Transcription is preferred.
- Proven experience in medical transcription with a focus on hospital and clinic reports.
- Expertise in medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and pharmacology.
- Typing speed of at least 60 words per minute (WPM) with a high degree of accuracy.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and dedicated transcription software (e.g., Dragon NaturallySpeaking, EHR platforms).
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Reliable high-speed internet connection and a dedicated home workspace.
