Responsibilities
- Listen to and transcribe physician dictation into text format with a focus on high accuracy and speed.
- Proofread and edit transcripts to ensure proper grammar, punctuation, and adherence to medical style guides (e.g., AAMT).
- Format medical reports according to established templates and client specifications.
- Ensure strict adherence to HIPAA compliance and patient confidentiality protocols.
- Communicate effectively with healthcare providers regarding unclear or ambiguous dictation.
- Meet daily and weekly productivity targets while maintaining quality assurance standards.
- Utilize speech recognition software and Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems efficiently.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent; Associate degree in Medical Transcription preferred.
- Proven experience in medical transcription or a related healthcare documentation role.
- Strong command of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and pharmacology.
- Typing speed of 65+ words per minute with a high degree of accuracy.
- Familiarity with speech recognition tools (e.g., Dragon NaturallySpeaking) and EHR systems (e.g., Epic, Cerner).
- Reliable high-speed internet connection and a distraction-free home office setup.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a remote setting.
