Responsibilities
- Transcribe Medical Reports: Convert voice recordings of physician dictations into text using speech recognition software, followed by manual editing to ensure 99% accuracy.
- Format Documents: Adhere to strict formatting guidelines for various report types, including history and physicals, discharge summaries, and operative reports.
- Proofreading & Editing: Review and edit transcribed documents for grammar, punctuation, medical terminology, and syntax errors.
- HIPAA Compliance: Maintain strict patient confidentiality and adhere to Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) security protocols.
- Quality Assurance: Meet daily and weekly production quotas while maintaining high-quality standards.
- Communication: Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify unclear dictation or resolve technical issues.
Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in medical transcription or a related healthcare documentation role.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's degree or certification (e.g., AAMT) preferred.
- Skills: Expert knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and pharmacology.
- Typing: Proven ability to type with high speed and accuracy (65+ WPM).
- Software: Proficient in using speech recognition software (e.g., Dragon NaturallySpeaking) and EMR systems.
- Equipment: Reliable high-speed internet connection and a dedicated home office setup.
