Responsibilities
- Transcribe Voice Records: Accurately convert voice recordings into written medical reports, including patient history, physical exams, and discharge summaries, using digital dictation equipment.
- Medical Terminology: Utilize your deep knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and pharmacology to ensure accurate documentation of diagnoses and procedures.
- Quality Assurance: Proofread and edit transcribed documents to correct errors in grammar, punctuation, syntax, and medical content before final submission.
- EHR Proficiency: Input completed reports into Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems such as Epic or Cerner, ensuring data integrity and security.
- Confidentiality Compliance: Adhere strictly to HIPAA regulations and company privacy policies to protect patient information at all times.
- Deadline Management: Manage high-volume transcription tasks efficiently to meet daily production targets and turnaround times.
- Software Updates: Stay updated on changes in medical coding and transcription software to maintain optimal performance.
Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or GED required; Associate degree or certificate in Medical Transcription preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of professional medical transcription experience in a hospital or clinic setting.
- Skills: Exceptional typing speed (60+ WPM) and accuracy rate (98% or higher).
- Software: Proficiency in speech recognition software (e.g., Dragon NaturallySpeaking) and Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems.
- Equipment: Must have a reliable high-speed internet connection, a dedicated home office space, and a headset with microphone.
- Professionalism: Strong attention to detail, excellent time management skills, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Language: Native fluency in English with a strong command of grammar and spelling.
