Responsibilities
- Listen to audio recordings of physician dictation and transcribe medical reports accurately and in a timely manner.
- Format reports according to established departmental guidelines and client specifications.
- Proofread and edit transcribed documents for grammar, punctuation, syntax, and medical terminology accuracy.
- Ensure patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA compliance standards at all times.
- Communicate effectively with physicians and healthcare staff regarding unclear dictation or formatting issues.
- Manage multiple dictation files simultaneously and prioritize tasks based on urgency and deadlines.
- Utilize specialized transcription software and electronic health record (EHR) systems efficiently.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in medical transcription, preferably in a hospital or clinic setting.
- Strong command of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and pharmacology.
- High typing speed (minimum 65 wpm) with exceptional accuracy (95%+).
- High school diploma or equivalent; Medical Transcription certificate or Associate degree is preferred.
- Must have a reliable high-speed internet connection and a dedicated workspace.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and medical transcription software (e.g., Dragon NaturallySpeaking, EHR systems).
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
