Responsibilities
- Listen to audio recordings of medical dictation and accurately transcribe them into text format.
- Format documents according to established medical and legal standards (e.g., SOAP notes, discharge summaries).
- Proofread and edit transcribed documents for grammar, punctuation, spelling, and syntax errors.
- Ensure strict adherence to HIPAA compliance and patient confidentiality protocols.
- Utilize specialized medical transcription software and tools efficiently.
- Communicate effectively with healthcare providers regarding unclear dictations or urgent deadlines.
- Maintain a high level of productivity and meet daily and weekly volume targets.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree or certification in Medical Transcription preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in medical transcription, preferably in a hospital or clinic setting.
- Extensive knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and pharmacology.
- Proficient typing speed of at least 60-70 WPM.
- Must have a reliable high-speed internet connection and a quiet workspace.
- Proficiency with speech recognition software (e.g., Dragon NaturallySpeaking) is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
