Responsibilities
- Listen to and transcribe physician dictation into medical reports, correspondence, and other administrative documents with a high degree of accuracy.
- Proofread and edit transcribed documents for grammar, punctuation, spelling, and medical terminology errors before final submission.
- Ensure strict adherence to confidentiality and HIPAA compliance standards at all times.
- Organize and file completed medical records in a timely and systematic manner.
- Communicate with healthcare providers regarding unclear dictation or specific medical instructions.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of medical coding systems and documentation standards.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; Associate's degree or certification in Medical Transcription is preferred.
- Proven experience in medical transcription or a related healthcare documentation field.
- Comprehensive knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and pharmacology.
- Exceptional typing speed and accuracy (minimum 60 WPM).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically MS Word, with the ability to utilize macros.
