Responsibilities
- Listen to dictated recordings from healthcare providers and transcribe them into accurate medical reports.
- Ensure all medical terminology, drug names, and abbreviations are spelled correctly.
- Proofread and edit transcripts for grammar, syntax, and formatting errors.
- Maintain strict patient confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Utilize electronic health record (EHR) systems and transcription software efficiently.
- Research unclear medical terms or procedures using authorized reference materials.
- Adhere to departmental quality assurance standards and deadlines.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required; Associate degree in Medical Transcription preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in medical transcription or a related healthcare documentation role.
- Expert knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and pharmacology.
- Typing speed of at least 65 WPM with high accuracy (less than 3 errors per page).
- Reliable, high-speed internet connection and a dedicated home workspace.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and specialized transcription software.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
