Responsibilities
- Transcribe Medical Reports: Accurately convert voice recordings of physician dictations into clear, concise, and grammatically correct medical reports, including patient histories, physical exams, and discharge summaries.
- Proofread and Edit: Rigorously review transcribed documents for medical accuracy, grammar, punctuation, and syntax before final submission.
- Adhere to Compliance: Strictly follow HIPAA regulations and company confidentiality policies to ensure the security of sensitive patient data.
- Utilize Technology: Proficiently operate speech recognition software and Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems to streamline the transcription process.
- Quality Assurance: Participate in internal quality assurance processes and utilize the QA feedback to improve transcription speed and accuracy.
- Deadline Management: Manage daily work queues efficiently to meet strict production quotas and turnaround time requirements.
- Communication: Collaborate with medical staff and quality analysts to resolve queries regarding unclear dictation or terminology.
Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or GED required; completion of a medical transcription program or equivalent work experience is highly preferred.
- Medical Knowledge: Strong command of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and pharmacology.
- Typing Skills: Demonstrated typing speed of at least 60 words per minute with high accuracy (98% or higher).
- Experience: Prior experience in medical transcription, preferably in a remote or acute care setting.
- Technical Proficiency: Reliable high-speed internet connection, a dedicated home office environment, and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and EHR software.
- Residency: Must be a legal resident of the United States (often required for medical record security clearance).
- Soft Skills: Exceptional attention to detail, strong time management skills, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
