Responsibilities
- Listen to dictated recordings made by healthcare professionals and transcribe them into written medical reports, such as discharge summaries, history and physicals, and operative reports.
- Proofread and edit transcribed documents for spelling, grammar, punctuation, and syntax accuracy.
- Ensure patient confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA regulations at all times.
- Use speech recognition technology and transcription software to facilitate the transcription process.
- Research medical terminology, abbreviations, and drug names to ensure 100% accuracy in documentation.
- Meet daily and weekly production quotas and deadlines.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of medical coding and billing guidelines.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent; Associate’s degree in Medical Transcription or Healthcare preferred.
- Proven experience as a Medical Transcriptionist or similar role (minimum 1-2 years preferred).
- Comprehensive knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and pharmacology.
- Exceptional typing speed and accuracy (minimum 60-80 WPM).
- Proficiency with medical transcription software and speech recognition tools.
- Must be a US citizen or hold valid legal work authorization.
- Reliable high-speed internet connection and a distraction-free home office environment.
