Responsibilities
- Accurately transcribe medical reports, including history and physicals, operative notes, and discharge summaries.
- Proofread and edit all transcripts for grammar, punctuation, and medical accuracy before final submission.
- Ensure strict adherence to HIPAA guidelines and patient confidentiality protocols.
- Utilize industry-standard transcription software, such as Dragon NaturallySpeaking, to maximize efficiency.
- Communicate with healthcare providers via email or phone to clarify unclear dictation.
- Manage file archiving and data entry within secure medical record systems.
- Maintain a high level of productivity and meet daily/weekly transcription quotas.
Qualifications
- Certified Medical Transcriptionist (CMT) or equivalent RHIT/RHIA credentials preferred.
- Extensive knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and pharmacology.
- Demonstrated typing proficiency with a minimum speed of 65 WPM.
- Must have a dedicated home office setup with high-speed internet and a reliable computer.
- Experience with cloud-based Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems (e.g., Epic, Cerner).
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends or evenings, as required.
