Responsibilities
- Listen to audio recordings of medical dictation and transcribe them into accurate, grammatically correct, and clinically appropriate reports.
- Proofread and edit transcripts for spelling, grammar, punctuation, and consistency.
- Adhere to all medical transcription guidelines, style guides, and client-specific formatting requirements.
- Maintain strict patient confidentiality and HIPAA compliance in all communications and documentation.
- Utilize speech recognition software and medical transcription tools (e.g., Dragon NaturallySpeaking) to maximize efficiency.
- Meet daily and weekly productivity and accuracy targets set by quality assurance managers.
- Communicate effectively with healthcare providers for clarification on ambiguous dictation when necessary.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree in Medical Transcription or Health Sciences is preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of verifiable experience in medical transcription, preferably in a remote setting.
- Proficiency in medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and pharmacology.
- Exceptional typing speed and accuracy (minimum 60 wpm with 99% accuracy).
- Reliable high-speed internet connection and a dedicated, quiet home office environment.
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and specific transcription software.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a remote environment.
