Responsibilities
- Listen to audio recordings of medical dictation and transcribe them into accurate, readable medical reports, including patient histories, physical exams, and operative notes.
- Proofread and edit transcriptions for grammar, punctuation, and medical accuracy before final submission.
- Adhere to all HIPAA regulations and company confidentiality policies to protect patient data.
- Utilize speech recognition software and electronic health record (EHR) systems effectively.
- Manage high volumes of work efficiently while meeting strict daily and weekly deadlines.
- Communicate with healthcare providers regarding unclear dictation or specific medical terminology when necessary.
- Stay updated on medical terminology, anatomy, and pharmacology to ensure high-quality transcription.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree in Medical Transcription or a related field is preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in medical transcription or a related healthcare documentation role.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and pharmacology.
- Exceptional typing speed and accuracy (minimum 65 words per minute).
- Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite and medical transcription software.
- Must possess a dedicated home office setup with high-speed internet.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and maintain high productivity levels.
