Responsibilities
- Listens to audio recordings of medical dictation and transcribes them into written medical reports using specialized software.
- Proofreads and edits transcribed documents for grammar, punctuation, spelling, and syntax errors to ensure high-quality output.
- Maintains strict patient confidentiality and adheres to HIPAA compliance standards at all times.
- Converts various file formats (e.g., WAV, MP3) into readable text documents efficiently.
- Communicates with healthcare providers for clarification on unclear dictation when necessary.
- Updates and maintains transcription archives and databases with accurate data.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; completion of a transcription program is a plus.
- Proven experience in medical transcription or a strong ability to learn medical terminology quickly.
- Exceptional typing speed (minimum 60 WPM) and accuracy.
- Strong command of the English language, including grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
- Reliable high-speed internet connection and a dedicated home office workspace.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and medical transcription software (e.g., Dragon NaturallySpeaking, Emdat).
