Responsibilities
- Listen to audio recordings of medical or legal dictation and transcribe them into accurate written text.
- Proofread and edit transcribed documents for grammar, punctuation, and style consistency.
- Ensure all transcriptions adhere to strict HIPAA privacy and compliance standards.
- Use speech-to-text software and medical transcription equipment efficiently.
- Submit completed work within the established turnaround time (TAT) deadlines.
- Research medical terminology and unfamiliar terms to ensure accuracy.
- Communicate effectively with healthcare providers regarding unclear dictation.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; certification in Medical Transcription is preferred.
- Proven experience as a transcriptionist or medical scribe.
- Extensive knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
- Exceptional typing speed (minimum 60-70 WPM) with high accuracy.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and speech recognition software (e.g., Dragon NaturallySpeaking).
- Reliable high-speed internet connection and a quiet home office environment.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
