Responsibilities
- Convert audio recordings of physician consultations, surgeries, and medical reports into clear, written text using industry-standard software.
- Proofread and edit transcripts to ensure accuracy in grammar, spelling, and medical terminology usage.
- Maintain strict adherence to HIPAA privacy regulations and company confidentiality policies.
- Use speech recognition tools (e.g., Dragon NaturallySpeaking) to increase transcription speed and efficiency.
- Meet daily productivity targets and quality assurance scores as set by the Quality Assurance department.
- Communicate effectively with QA specialists regarding complex dictations or unclear audio files.
- Stay updated on evolving medical coding and documentation standards.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required; Associate's degree in Medical Transcription or Health Information Management is preferred.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of professional medical transcription experience is highly desirable.
- Exceptional typing speed (60+ WPM) with high accuracy.
- Strong working knowledge of medical anatomy, physiology, and pharmacology.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and specialized transcription software (e.g., Emdat, Dictaphone).
- Reliable high-speed internet connection and a dedicated, quiet home workspace.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and meet tight deadlines.
