Responsibilities
- Deliver 1-on-1 and small group virtual tutoring sessions in core subjects (Math, Science, ELA)
- Develop personalized lesson plans aligned with CA state standards and student goals
- Utilize interactive platforms (Zoom, our proprietary LMS) for engaging instruction
- Provide detailed progress reports and actionable feedback to students and parents
- Collaborate with academic advisors to address learning gaps and adjust teaching strategies
- Maintain accurate session documentation and curriculum resource library
- Participate in ongoing training to enhance digital pedagogy skills
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Education or related field (or equivalent experience)
- CA teaching credential preferred (not required for subject-matter experts)
- 2+ years experience tutoring K-12 students in core subjects
- Proficiency with video conferencing and educational technology
- Demonstrated ability to adapt teaching methods to diverse learning styles
- Strong communication skills and cultural competency for Oakland's diverse student population
- Availability for evening/weekend sessions (Pacific Time)
- Background check and child safety certification required
