Responsibilities
- Audio Transcription: Convert spoken medical dictation into accurate, formatted, and timely text documents using specialized transcription software.
- Quality Assurance: Proofread and edit transcripts to ensure grammatical correctness, factual accuracy, and adherence to medical style guides.
- Terminology: Utilize extensive knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, pharmacology, and disease processes to ensure precise documentation.
- Confidentiality: Strictly adhere to HIPAA regulations and company policies to protect patient privacy and sensitive information.
- Deadline Management: Manage high-volume workloads efficiently while meeting daily production targets and turnaround times.
- Software Proficiency: Utilize various digital dictation systems and electronic health record (EHR) interfaces effectively.
Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree in Medical Transcription or Healthcare Administration is preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in medical transcription or a related field is required.
- Skills: Demonstrated ability to type at least 60 WPM with high accuracy (98% or higher).
- Knowledge: Strong command of medical terminology, grammar, and English language proficiency.
- Tools: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with Dragon NaturallySpeaking or similar speech recognition software is a plus.
- Attributes: Exceptional attention to detail, self-motivated, and able to work independently in a remote or hybrid setting.
