Responsibilities
- Listen to audio recordings of medical dictation and transcribe them into clear, accurate, and grammatically correct text.
- Proofread and edit transcripts for grammar, punctuation, and spelling errors before submission.
- Adhere to established formatting guidelines and medical terminology standards.
- Manage high volumes of work while meeting strict daily and weekly deadlines.
- Identify and report any unclear or ambiguous audio segments to the appropriate supervisor.
- Maintain strict patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA compliance standards.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree in Medical Transcription or related field preferred.
- Proven typing speed of at least 60 words per minute.
- Strong command of the English language, including grammar and sentence structure.
- Experience with medical terminology and a basic understanding of anatomy and physiology is highly desirable.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and specialized transcription software (e.g., Dragon NaturallySpeaking, Express Scribe).
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a remote or hybrid setting.
