Responsibilities
- Coordinate and manage complex medical provider schedules across multiple departments
- Optimize appointment utilization while maintaining optimal patient flow and wait times
- Serve as primary liaison between patients, providers, and clinical staff for scheduling needs
- Implement and maintain efficient scheduling protocols using Epic EMR system
- Resolve scheduling conflicts and accommodate urgent patient requests with empathy
- Generate and analyze scheduling reports to identify optimization opportunities
- Train and mentor new scheduling staff on department protocols and best practices
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years' experience in medical scheduling or healthcare coordination
- Proficiency in Epic EMR or similar electronic health record systems
- Exceptional communication skills with ability to de-escalate complex situations
- Advanced knowledge of healthcare compliance requirements (HIPAA, CMS)
- Proven ability to manage competing priorities in fast-paced environments
- Associate's degree in healthcare administration or related field required (Bachelor's preferred)
- Experience with practice management software (e.g., Athenahealth, NextGen)
